Apartment building renovation grants: the 2026 guide

Apartment building renovation grants: the 2026 guide

Renovation grants can help finance energy improvements to apartment buildings. This guide follows the original article’s review of Eko sklad calls 124SUB-OBPO25 and 128VSSRS26 dated 10 June 2026. Check the current call and its status before submitting an application.

How renovation grants are calculated

For the insulation examples below, compare the eligible-cost percentage with the maximum amount per square metre. The lower amount limits the example calculation. The full call still determines eligibility, recognised costs and any special provisions.

A statement about support of up to 50% does not mean every façade or roof receives that percentage. The actual measure and applicable conditions matter. Separate the grant from any loan used to finance the remaining cost.

Façade: the standard example

The source article describes up to 30% of eligible costs, capped at €50/m² for the standard façade case. For €200,000 of eligible expenditure excluding VAT and 1,500 m², the percentage gives €60,000. The area cap gives €75,000, so the lower example amount is €60,000.

Façade: the high-rise example

The article describes a €60/m² cap for the specified high-rise case. For 2,000 m² and €350,000 of eligible expenditure, 30% is €105,000. The area cap is €120,000, giving a lower example amount of €105,000.

The high-rise definition must be checked against the applicable call and fire guidance. Building height is relevant to more than funding. The façade design must also meet its technical and fire requirements.

Roof and ceiling examples

Measure Percentage in source guide Area cap
Flat roof Up to 30% €50/m²
Pitched roof Up to 30% €25/m²
Ceiling towards an unheated attic Up to 30% €25/m²
Ceiling above an unheated basement Up to 30% €25/m²

For a flat roof costing €120,000 with 900 m², the two results are €36,000 and €45,000. The lower example is €36,000. A pitched roof costing €80,000 with 1,000 m² gives €24,000 against a €25,000 area cap.

An attic ceiling costing €40,000 with 1,200 m² gives €12,000 against €30,000. A basement ceiling costing €30,000 with 900 m² gives €9,000 against €22,500. Each example assumes the stated expenditure is eligible and the other conditions are met.

Financing the remaining investment

The June 2026 source article also discussed a reserve-fund financing route under 128VSSRS26, including an interest-free loan and repayment of up to ten years. Those terms must be checked in the official current documents before budgeting.

A grant award and a loan are different decisions. Review eligibility, owner decisions, repayment and the required documents for each. Do not treat an illustrative calculation as an approved funding amount.

Prepare the project information

Establish the surfaces, planned measures, estimated eligible expenditure and required PZI documentation. A reliable building survey and coordinated details support quantities and tendering. Construction supervision follows the execution and supporting records.
