Structural design connects the building’s load-bearing system with calculations and coordinated construction drawings. We prepare documentation for reinforced concrete, timber, steel and masonry structures, including conventional and prefabricated buildings.
We establish the structural arrangement, assess the relevant actions and size the load-bearing members. The calculation model must reflect the proposed building and its supports. Ground conditions and the relationship with neighbouring structures are important inputs.
A basis for safety.
A coordinated load-bearing system.
Details that support durability.
Reinforcement drawings specify the bars and mesh required by the design. The contractor needs positions, diameters, spacing, marks and connections. Sections make congested or concealed areas easier to understand.
For slabs, beams, columns, walls and foundations, detailing connects the members into the intended system. Bar schedules support ordering and preparation. Changes to geometry or openings must be coordinated with the structural engineer.
The construction set can include formwork drawings, reinforcement drawings, workshop details, material schedules and quantities. The exact scope follows the structure and the agreed commission. Calculations and drawings must describe the same solution.

Timber construction needs coordinated members, joints and anchorage. Factory-made panels must connect correctly to foundations and other parts of the building. Assembly sequencing and the interface with concrete work should be clear before work starts.
Material choice can support project sustainability objectives. Durability, protection, maintenance and the complete life of the structure also matter. The chosen material does not remove the need for a project-specific structural assessment.
The structural information required for approval depends on the building and the proposed work. Agree the design scope and the required documents for the actual intervention.
A building permit set and detailed structural construction drawings serve different purposes. We can prepare the structural part of PZI where the client already has the appropriate permit documentation. Interfaces with architecture and services still need coordination.

Our work uses professional design software and the relevant design framework. A model helps organise the analysis, but the engineer must still establish the assumptions and interpret the results.
Reinforcement drawings translate the design into positions, diameters, spacing, marks and connections that the contractor can use. Changes to openings or geometry need coordination with the structural engineer.

Steel structures require member and connection design together with usable fabrication details. For masonry, the layout of walls, floors, ties and openings affects the load path. Architectural changes should therefore be reviewed across the whole building.
An existing building first needs a review of available drawings and its actual condition. A structural assessment can examine the proposed use, alterations or additional loading, such as rooftop solar equipment.
Where strengthening is required, we identify which elements can remain and which need repair, replacement or reinforcement. The assessment scope depends on the available information and the proposed intervention. Photographs alone cannot establish the condition of concealed construction.
Send the location, architectural drawings, available permits and ground information. For an existing structure, include photographs and a description of the intended changes. Use our contact form or info@xplan.si so that we can define the next step.
Our retaining wall project example shows how a spatial model, formwork plan and reinforcement drawing work together.
During execution, construction supervision checks the work against the applicable documents. If the excavation reveals unexpected soil or the contractor proposes a change, obtain a coordinated decision before proceeding.
