Structural calculations and reinforcement drawings

Structural calculations establish how the load-bearing system responds to the relevant actions. The results must be carried through into drawings that explain the members, connections and reinforcement. A calculation and a construction drawing are parts of the same design.

Structural calculations and the construction set

We prepare structural documentation for masonry, reinforced concrete, timber and steel buildings. The work includes selecting the structural arrangement, analysing it and sizing the load-bearing members. The construction set then communicates the solution to the contractor.

The scope follows the actual project and its documentation stage. For an existing house, an assessment also needs information about the present structure and any proposed changes. An old drawing should be compared with what is on site.

Reinforced concrete detailing

Reinforcement drawings identify the location of bars and mesh. For slabs, beams and columns, the contractor needs the bar sizes, spacing, marks and anchorage details. Links and connections between members are as important as the members themselves.

A bar schedule supports preparation and ordering. Sections clarify details that a single plan view cannot explain. Any change to an opening or a member should be coordinated with the calculation before it is built.

Timber and prefabricated structures

Factory-made wall panels and timber members can be assembled quickly on site. Their supports, steel connectors and anchors still require careful coordination. The concrete foundation and the timber superstructure must match.

Material choice can support sustainability objectives. The complete solution must also consider durability, moisture protection, connections and maintenance. A general preference for a material cannot replace a project-specific assessment.

Masonry and practical coordination

Masonry systems differ in their materials, laying methods and connection details. Compare complete technical solutions rather than choosing from the wall material alone. The arrangement of load-bearing walls and openings affects the rest of the building.
